Hello,
About Me:
I struggled with Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa for roughly a decade. After years of searching, I was finally admitted to a treatment program that was right for me.
A year later in strong recovery, I left my home state of Texas to live in Los Angeles, California. It had been my dream to live there after visiting California for the first time in 2014.
I absolutely loved living there, however, I decided to leave for the East Coast to do more exploring. I lived there for a few years and now I am in Italy, where I plan on staying!
Traveling and exploring nature is one of the many soulful things I recovered TO. Part of my job as an eating disorder coach intern is to help clients develop a sense of passion for life. What do YOU want to recover to? What do YOU want your life to look like?
With eating disorders, a person's brain becomes hijacked by disordered thinking, obsessive rituals, and self-destructive behaviors, etc. These patterns often cause severe isolation and hyper-fixation on food, body image, and weight. The "control" a person thinks they have in their life gradually begins spiraling out of control.
These behaviors are not what a person's healthy self would naturally do. A combination of risk factors cause eating disorders and it takes time to heal from them.
By accompanying clients in real life situations where the eating disorder self has been calling all the shots, coaches (and interns like me!) help clients in their ability to respond to these situations by using their healthy self.

Some of my favorite things.
